I've managed to find that rare niche where a job develops a passion, and that passion becomes something I have the privilege of getting paid to do. everyday. Meeting with clients, listening as they share the best parts of their lives, and having a part in creating something that last literally centuries... I'm proud of the fact that my work will be out there that long; proud to call it my work..This passion started with working on thousands of memorials in the very shop that got the company started over 100 years ago. After four years of stenciling, rocking, sandblasting and carving, I was promoted to a partial sales position and given a small territory where our company had a history of performing well years before, but no longer was. I dutifully managed that area, meeting with clients both, in my retail office and traveling to their homes, depending what best met their needs. As an individual, I grew and thrived in that small territory until I was promoted to head of all sales in Richland, Ashland and Knox Counties, bringing in over the years hundreds of sales culminating in over $180k in revenue. As a Memorial Counselor, my job now is to meet with families, typically after they have lost a loved one, and by asking pointed questions, attentively listening as they answer and share stories of memories of the past, capturing the unique spirit of the family member(s) and painting a picture of that person's life on a granite canvas.I use every element of design from shape, color and texture to font styles, contrast, and prose to tell just the right story. My end goal every time is to take an object that most people associate with death - a headstone, and turn it into token that inspires memories of a life well-lived - a memorial.I enjoy a creative atmosphere and being challenged regularly. Solving unique problems by thinking outside of the box is where I'm happiest.
