Profile bio

About Adam Longstreth

I am currently a Senior at The Kelley School of Business majoring in Economic Consulting and Public Policy Analysis. I am passionate about the study of policy and how it can be refined to better the lived of others. I am a focused and determined thinker, and I always strive to be deliberate and do what's right. In High School, I devoted my spare time to exploring the economic, philosophical, and political understandings surrounding economic opportunity, and how to use economics to help people by reading from authors such as Adam Smith, F. A. Hayek, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Within school itself, I took advantage of the many dual credit courses my high school offered in order to get ahead on credits so I would be able to further explore many of the economics courses during college that I would not have been able to otherwise. This resulted with me graduating with 55 credit hours that I was able to transfer to my undergraduate degree, as well as my being awarded the Social Studies Departmental Award out of my graduating class. Now at Indiana University, I am currently trying to further my understanding of economics by taking advantage of the exceptional academic opportunities that the economics and policy courses within the College of Arts and Sciences and The Kelley School of Business have to offer. In my first two years, I have been able to complete the introductory Microeconomics and Macroeconomics courses within my major, as well as the Intermediate Microeconomic course that is required for a number of upper-level economics courses that I plan on exploring later in my college career, and I have gained a lot of valuable insights into the theory and practical application of economics. I am also currently attempting to get further involved in local organizations in which the application of economic understandings can be used to help other people and companies, as I believe this is the best way I could make a positive impact within the field of economics as a student at IU. In the future, I hope to work in the field of economic development, specifically in looking at how public policy decisions influence the economic opportunities of people and firms. Ultimately, I want to obtain a sound understanding of economics and the effects of public policy so that I am able to make a positive impact through work that advocates for economic opportunity.
