Adam Reid is a full-time undergraduate Mechanical Engineering student at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His most recent work experience is as a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering student intern at General Motors in Flint, Michigan.Adam lends his interests to a range of subjects, including the study of urban form and of automotive design. He has a background in technical design using CAD software, managing large databases using TeamCenter, and conducting independent research. He views his knowledge and position in the automotive industry and the trends it has produced as critical in spearheading the effort to return our cities to being people-centric. With his time, Adam is involved with increasing engagement in engineering design in the Harvard community. He leads an initiative within the Harvard Undergraduate Automotive Society to create a student-run FSAE racing competition team from the ground up. Additionally, he has served as co-finance director for the Harvard Undergraduate Clean Energy Group, is a member of the Harvard Undergraduate Urban Sustainability Lab, and has spoken at Cambridge City Hall about the impacts of people-centric outdoor spaces on student life. For his senior capstone project, he aims to better understand how traffic patterns influence pollution levels through the creation of a cost-friendly device capable of measuring traffic and air quality metrics.
