Adam M. Smith is a partner with the law firm of Coughlin Midlige & Garland LLP. Mr. Smith concentrates his practice in the areas of insurance and reinsurance coverage litigation. He has extensive experience litigating complex insurance coverage disputes on behalf of insurers and reinsurers in jurisdictions across the nation. He has litigated matters and counseled clients with respect to wide variety of claims concerning comprehensive general liability, professional liability, directors and officers, errors and omissions, medical stop loss and first party property insurance policies. Mr. Smith has extensive experience counseling clients and litigating matters related to insurance coverage for mass tort, lawyers professional liability, construction and financial institution claims. He has successfully litigated numerous matters related to insurance coverage for asbestos bodily injury claims, inlcuding in the bankruptcy context. He has counseled and litigated on behalf of insurers with respect to insurance coverage under lawyers professional liability policies and has defended numerous professional liability matters. He has represented insurers and their insureds with regard to risk transfer issues arising out of large construction projects. In addition, Mr. Smith has authored book chapters regarding bad faith liability and additional insured issues under general liability insurance policies. Upon graduation from Fordham University School of Law, Mr. Smith became associated with the New Jersey office of Mendes & Mount, LLP where he concentrated his practice in the areas of insurance coverage litigation, product liability and professional malpractice. He became a Partner in the firm in 2001, and he remained with the firm until 2005. Mr. Smith joined Coughlin Duffy LLP (now Coughlin Midlige & Garland LLP) March 2005 and became a Member in July 2006.
