▪ Started a small business as a contract product designer. Was the lead R&D Designer forROAMBUILT (https://roambuilt.com/) aftermarket offroad Mercedes Sprinter van products. Product designs included a formed and welded steel sheet metal recovery/collision winch bumper which housed a WARN Zeon 10 winch inside the confines of the plastic bumper cover, tubular aluminum brush guard, a unique no-drill modular rear door accessories system, and roof racks. Designed components with both powder coat and anodized finishes.▪ Lead mechanical designer for Nomad Vanz premium camper vans (https://nomadvanz.com/). Designed custom formed and welded aluminum grey and stainless fresh water tanks with baffles and heating elements, formed stainless steel sheet showers, aluminum heater mounts, CNC cabinetry, wiring diagrams and client specific vehicle layouts.▪ Created ready to manufacture drawings of formed, welded, and finished parts and assemblies.

▪ I worked on developing a new technology for identifying the molecular makeup of soils through the use of laser-powered Raman spectroscopy. My role covered the mechanical/electrical/fiber-optic interface hub design and overall compact ruggedization and layout of subsystems. I was directly involved in the design through to manufacture of successive prototype iterations of a high throughput bench-top soil analyzer. Other design highlights include shrinking our system to fit in a hand held in-field soil analyzer, offroad suspension and chassis design with machined integrated electric hub wheels, and test fixture/methodology to verify below ground sampling accuracy of our trenching rover. Trained in and practiced optical mechanics and class 4 laser safety.▪ Designed complex sheet metal parts in aluminum and steel, EMI shielding, thermoelectric cooling for lasers, and a novel spring-loaded anti-vibration PCB mount. I took ownership of designing a highly compact, electromechanical hub (spectrometer, fiber optics management, PCBs) that can be used across instruments. I also designed a novel forming die tool for hand bending small multi-fold aluminum sheet parts utilizing a combination of rollers and datum surfaces. Primary material design was machining, waterjet, laser cut, 3D printing, bending and forming, welding. Worked closely with PCB designers and created initial prototype and quotation drawings. I regularly took part and hosted design reviews and brainstorming sessions with the mechatronics team.

▪ Designed IP67 seals for electrical connections and casings while working with overseas vendors on cable overmold QC. Conducted root cause analyses. Ran tests on CIP and FIP gaskets under ABYC std. Designed an injection molded bulkhead connector for the main power harness with custom power leads and PU overmolding.▪ Identified mechanical issues with cast aluminum parts and implemented solutions on the new award-winning Optimus Electric Actuator. Conducted salt spray, temperature, and petrochemical tests on designed parts. Ran durability tests on copper cables and associated overmolds to stop long term water ingress and premature material work hardening. Used PLM for revision control and Creo/Pro E CAD modelling software.

▪ Self-funded volunteer for 2 years. Received training in team leadership, public speaking and mentorship.▪ Lead a hockey team of eight coaches overseas for 2 months and gained valuable experience in servantleadership. I tiled kitchens for a summer (Mastercraft Flooring, Duncan, BC) to help fund this trip.▪ Oversaw the wellbeing and respectful conduct of 18 young adults in a coed dorm as residence director.

Quickly gained the trust of management with my work ethic and quality installations. Worked primarily in an independent role installing custom floor and wall tile systems. Gained experience sloping and installing underfloor heating. Worked hard to maintain good client relationships and leave a clean end product with waste removal. Used the proceeds from this job to fund my 2018/19 year of volunteering.

▪ I designed, manufactured and tested remotely operated submersibles (ROV). Mechanically responsible for thecurrent generation design of the Chinook and Steelhead ROV’s as well as the original 600m rated Mako medium duty ROV. Through my design contributions, speed, payload capacity, and stability were increased, while reducing manufacturing time and costs. Chinook frame assembly time went from 2 days to 2 hours. Designed a machined aluminum quick release tether mount with plastic wear pads that has been in service with search rescue for 8 years. Produced precisely toleranced drawings ready for manufacture in both Canada and overseas vendors. Hosted and participated in design reviews with 2 other designers at defined project milestones. Was an integral part of setting up design validations in both the ocean and a pool. Conducted root cause analyses.▪ Gained significant experience in galvanic corrosion mitigation, waterproof PU and epoxy potting of electrical and fiber optic connections, fiber optic termination and strain relief, implosion resistant pressure vessel design, sapphire window strength and refraction design, and hydrodynamics. I also designed a portable electric tether winch chain drive, CNC and lathe cut tooling mounts, sonar skids, machined stainless steel fiber optic bulkhead connectors, CNC cut aluminum potting molds, custom bend and strain relief, and a depth rated HD camera.

Was responsible for the design, manufacture, and maintenance of the suspension and steering on LeTourneau University's SAE Baja racing off-road vehicle.Design highlights:- Competing in the 2014 Kansas Baja completion with 100 other universities. - Placing 5th overall in the steering competition with steering I designed.

Lead design and manufacturer of small to mid sized welding jigs for the 2014 product line of farming machinery.

Honeybee Manufacturing is a company that develops and manufactures swather headers for farming combines (the attachment cutting the crop). Worked with production engineering to ensure quality control in products. Updated welding procedures to more clearly communicate the intent of the engineer to the manufacture.

I apprenticed with my father in the family business where I helped built 4 residential homes from the ground up as a team of two. I learned the various disciplines such as carpentry, finished carpentry, concrete work, eavestrough, tiling, plumbing, electrical, drywall, roofing, and flooring. Gained experience operating a sawmill, tractor, chainsaw, and skid steer. Learned to read blueprints. Was directly involved with building and installing eavestrough on 300+ buildings. Directly involved with building 10+ decks and several hundred smaller renovation and re-modeling projects. Gained experience in cost estimation and quotation with an emphasis on customer relations.
