Employed as Subject Matter Expert for military engineering at Dstl. Through proactive negotiation, identified could provide advice to a wider audience within Dstl and subsequently became heavily involved in work on novel and cutting edge ways of detecting IEDs. • Military advisor in Yuma, Arizona conducting study of various Thermal Imagers (TI) and investigating phenomenology of the use the TI in IED detection. Developed understanding of ITAR regulations through export of test sensors.• Responsible for determining threat set and ground emplacement plan for a trial in Australia that investigated the use of Electro Optical sensors on a UAS in conjunction with Coherent Change Detection (CCD) software. Integrated realistic target emplacements with testing flight plan for the UAS. Following the trials the capability deployed on Op HERRICK as an Operational Concept Demonstrator.• Conducted country downselect and reconnaissance for determining location for further CCD trial using Synthetic Aperture Radar as well as other sensors mounted on a fixed wing aircraft. Planning required co-ordination with Defence Attaches, local airports and various overseas defence agencies during reconnaissance of potential locations. During subsequent trial responsible for ground emplacements and configuring flight plans with pilots. Responsible for liaison with local security forces.

Employed as the deputy Subject Matter Expert for combat engineering within the Field Training Group. The organisation was responsible for planning and executing the final confirmatory exercise before units deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. The role ensured individual soldiers, their management and units as a whole were able to meet strict standards before their deployment.

Deputy director (Squadron 2IC) for a group of 145 Royal Engineers soldiers based in Germany. The role required the co-ordination of the day to day business of the group and ensuring the organisation was administratively managed correctly.

Troop Commander for group of 30 soldiers responsible for front line reporting of enemy movements and rapid classification of damaged roads, bridges and industrial facilities. Deployed and recovered entire team to Kuwait and Iraq during 2003 invasion.
