Developed a database and corresponding website that utilized artificial intelligence techniques to provide the first useful data set of ex parte appeals data from the PTAB ever developed from over 60,000 decisions. Developed additional site modules designed to allow patent practitioners to determine whether to appeal from a particular examiner for specific legal issues. Developed the first patent prosecution tools that made recommendations of what action to take next based on examiner-level prosecution data and ex parte appeals data. Assets were sold to LexisNexis IP and incorporated into their PatentAdvisor® data product.

Phoenix, Arizona Area

Taught two semesters (2011, 2014), instructing students in the law and mechanics of drafting design and utility patent applications. Course work included drafting an actual non-provisional utility patent application, review patent prosecution strategies, drafting of Office Action responses and the legal analysis involved in opinion work including patentability opinions and patent infringement and invalidity opinions. Likely the first ASLS alumnus hired to teach at the school as an adjunct.

Supported the firm’s clients through drafting numerous patent applications and analyzing disclosures to determine optimum claim scope and potential prior art concerns. Managed and maintained the firm’s practice management software and IT infrastructure day-to-day. Drafted and prosecuted numerous patent applications for complex technologies at the Masters and PhD technical levels within budget and delivered on schedule.

Applied advanced statistical experimental designs to model the behavior of a particular process tool resulting in a 90% reduction in excursions related to misprocessing. Created ASP.Net website that automated use of the models resulting in a 60% reduction in setup wafers needed to perform a new product introduction. Supported development of 300 mm die preparation processes including dicing and die sorting. Developed in-house websites for standalone data retrieval and processing applications using ASP.Net, Visual Basic, and Office automation.

Worked with a pathfinding assembly technology group to develop fab-based manufacturing processes for chip assembly. Proved the concept of an alternate process flow for an interconnect structure after the primary process flow failed following months of attempts, resulting in formation of an interconnect in one week’s time. Developed and performed proof of concept work for multiple lithography layers using aligner, laser, and stepper process equipment for semiconductor process flows for advanced backend interconnect processes. Gained exposure to wet etch, CVD, sputter, copper electroplating, thin silicon wafer, and bonding process equipment along with each tool's related processes and corresponding metrology equipment.

Responsible for the process performance, process development, safety, upkeep, and maintenance of lithography track equipment. Assisted with developing a backend lithography process for Intel's Liquid Crystal on Silicon process resulting in U.S. Patent No. 7,312,152 and a number of international patents.
