I use my customer service and project management skills to effectively leverage travel resources to plan and ensure my clients the most cost effective and enjoyable international travel experiences; including, but not limited to navigating airlines searches via Google Flights, monitoring deal portals like Scott's Cheap Flights and Pomelo Travel, finding diamonds-in-the-rough via TripAdvisor, Google, Booking.com, and Airbnb reviews, and in using credit card promotions and travel points to travel in luxury at budget prices; adept in in-country travel policies and regulations. Because I have learned that we all travel differently, after listening to my clients, I take my research and create a custom travel plan.

The crazyus blog started when my husband left Red Hat and we bundled up our toddlers and spent a year traveling in a campervan. We were some of the first of what would now be described as #vanlife influencers. By 2006, I was a popular blogger, well known in the "mommy blogging" space. In later years, I moved the focus of the blog back to family adventure travel, particularly international travel, and I've documented our trips to almost 40 countries.

Building on my experience and interest in international travel, I conceived a mobile application that would allow travelers to browse and share travel itineraries and open up walking tours and road trips directly into Google Maps. Unfortunately, Google withdrew support for some key APIs and services, which made our approach much more technically challenging.

Oversaw various residential building projects. Organized the project while meeting homeowner goals and organizing contractors, craftspeople, and designers. In my role, the value of effective & coordinated planning and follow through was reflected in the finished project and the ongoing contractor relationships.

Akopia created the popular open source ecommerce platform, Interchange. I performed a variety of key operational roles during the company's early stages including finance, HR, marketing, and sales. The company was acquired by Red Hat in 2001.
