In a companies development team it is easy to stay busy with feature work and there is a whole other problem space that as an engineering team that we need to pay attention to.A huge one of those is being a developer and the experience of being a developer, from onboarding to maintaining open source projects and their communities and everything in between. Things like setting standards, guidelines on how to test and how to deploy applications, creating internal tooling and streamlining a development process, all of these things can often get neglected or treated like side projects or things that we feel we should do but ultimitely don't spend the time on to fully embrace.All of this comes under the umbrella of Developer Experience.

I led a cross functional team supporting the warehouse operations and logistical software. The system included multiple backend API services as well as Android apps for staff. The team consisted of several Android developers, a UX designer, as well as devops, full stack and back end developers.My main achievement was supporting more than one operational location, allowing the business to expand and to start planning for UK wide operations.Technologies used: Ruby on Rails, React.js, Docker, PostgreSQL on RDS, Java and Kotlin for Android, hosted on Heroku and then migrated to a Kubernetes cluster on AWS.

I joined Berg to help with the expansion of the BergCloud platform. When I arrived, the initial proof of concept was struggling to support 500+ devices. I enabled it to handle much larger loads and moved the design from a polling implementation to a streaming system that delivered messages in an event stream.Technologies used: Ruby on Rails, Python, Node.js, MySQL, AWS, Arduino/C++.
