Global Navigation Solutions is the leading distributor of navigational charts and publications. Their Chart Management Software, Voyager, is installed on over 4,000 vessels. I joined the company as the Lead Agile Developer after successfully delivering their contract for Application Refactoring (Voyager).This is a diverse role where I lead a team of six experienced developers across several projects, both internal and external. The successful development of projects also requires constant cross communication with the Business Analysts, Test Team, Database Administrator and IT. As a Team Lead I also conduct technical planning sessions, performance development reviews and provide one to one staff mentoring.My team’s main focus has been on the development of Voyager. The client application used SQL Server Express which was causing constant support issues during the install process. One of the ways of addressing this was to replace the database with a more suitable option for deployability.After initial consultation I was contracted to do this work by porting a large WPF application from using MS SQL Server to SQLite. This work required creating Tables & Views in a SQLite database, an Entity Framework model and replace stored procedures. A test framework document was also created to allow methodical testing at the final phase of the project.This project was delivered within the given time and successfully met all the set objectives.
