As part of my job description, I helped with the design of attachments that were apart of the structure of the Volvo Motor Grader. With these designs, I created 3D models, along with engineering drawings using the CAD design software CATIA. I was involved in numerous projects such as editing drawings and assemblies, the manufacturing process of our products, and benchmarking competior motor graders. My first project involved moodeling a new tow hitch for the Volvo Motor Grader. This project included all the basic steps of the CAD modeling process which are individual part modeling, assembly modeling, and engineering drawings of both the individual parts and assembly.Another project I was involved in was a new proposal for a casted lock bar. The lock bar helped with the positioning of the mold board of the motor grader. This project involved not only engineering aspects, but also the business side of engineering such as contacting suppliers and researching materials for casting purposes.My final project was for benchmarking purposes. My job was to measure the dimensions of the front frame/mold board of a competitor motor grader and from those dimensions, model the parts in CATIA and then create an assembly of those individual parts. Once this task was complete, I had to develop a presentation and present the model to my team and discuss what I found regarding what our competitors were doing different from our motor graders.
