I work an average of ten to fifteen hours a week during the semester helping other university students with math and civil engineering courses. I specialize particularly in Calculus I and II, College Algebra, Statics, and Strength of Materials.

I provide private one-hour sessions to students aged 10 to 18, tutoring primarily math and Spanish, along with science and English when needed. I organize sessions in both virtual and face-to-face formats with regards to pandemic precautions, and I offer availability throughout the week via text for additional questions students may have outside of private.

My position revolved largely around enforcing COVID-19 pandemic precautions. My duties included counting customers to follow building occupancy limits, informing customers about social distancing recommendations, sanitizing carts, and limiting the amount of cross-traffic into and out of the building.

I converted roadway lighting inspection sheets that were previously hand-drawn to a digital format through the use of MicroStation. The compiled database was about 50 pages and consisted of all roadway and signal lighting that was under the jurisdiction of the West Virginia Division of Highways - District 3.

I spent the summer mainly evaluating and maintaining signal and pedestrian crosswalks, ensuring that traffic was moving efficiently and safely based on signal timing. I also reviewed a signal warrant traffic study after conducting a traffic count and determined traffic control device standard compliance. By completing these tasks, I familiarized myself.
