The main aim of our project is to collect, analyze, and visualize data on public transportation in data-poor contexts, starting with Cairo, Egypt. To that end, we have successfully covered most of Cairo's bus lines, both formal and informal and converted them to GIS, GTFS, and physical maps for popular usage. The data informs maps and GTFS that help commuters navigate the city. It also feeds models that calculate job accessibility for residents of Cairo using public transportation. This is used in reports commissioned by the World Bank to decide on the best new bus routes.

As a Research Assistant in the Human Mobility and Networks Lab under Dr. Marta Gonzalez, I developed a method to estimate fuel consumption using an agent based model calibrated to apply to any type of urban road vehicle. We applied it to several policy scenarios including the effects on fuel consumption in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia when women start to drive. I used MATLAB and Python for modelling, analysis, and visualization. The results were published in the Transportation Research Record.
