However, prior to COVID19, the system was already fragile due to the… Show more Investigative documentary into the toxic workplace of our frontline healthcare workersHow would you describe South African frontline healthcare workers?Self-less? Heroic?How about fragile?The COVID19 pandemic has exposed the fragility of the health system. We were made acutely aware of the collective need to protect health resources, to flatten the curve, in order to maintain a functioning health system. However, prior to COVID19, the system was already fragile due to the fragility of its main functional cog: the healthcare worker.Almost 3 years ago now, we launched an investigative exploration into the toxicity of the health workplace in South Africa. We collected real-life anecdotes, lived experiences, of everyday healthcare workers in the country. We crafted a documentary around these anecdotes (that are devoid of personal identifiers) to explore the landscape of the healthcare worker/health system interface.Our self-less, heroic and fragile frontline healthcare workers need our attention and protection now more than ever.This is a look Behind the FrontlineVirtual premiere 30 Sep 2020 6 PM.
