Director Of Research And Development
Director Of Engineering
http://polyspectra.com/I drove innovation to develop next-generation 3D printable materials at polySpectra. I grew the R&D department from one to five scientists and engineers and oversaw department operations and deliverables. I set and delivered company KPIs relevant to additive manufacturing product development in the dental, automotive, and electronics verticals. My efforts led to the commercialization of multiple additive products and partnerships with customers.
Postdoctoral Fellow
As part of the Polyspectra startup incubation within the Cyclotron Road cohort at Berkeley Lab, CA, I developed novel photocurable resins for additive manufacturing and explored product-market fit. I utilized my technical expertise as well as customer discovery resources (NSF I-Corp program) to de-risk commercialization viability for the technology.
Postdoctoral Researcher
I gain experience in polymer formulation as well as polymeric fabrication process design and development for target applications while working on my current Postdoctoral research project at Carnegie Mellon University. My research involves developing and optimizing the fabrication process of micro-scale 3D hydrogel structures from custom formulated acrylate photoresins amenable to two-photon induced cross-linking utilizing commercial 3D laser lithography systems for neural interface applications. The project addresses a real-world necessity for conductive 3D soft-polymeric structures capable of interfacing neural devices with soft tissue. Working on this project inspired me to pursue a career involving the research and innovation of materials and products that solve and meet real-world problems and requirements.
Phd Candidate, Materials Science And Engineering
Dissertation title: Embedded Abiotic Vascular Networks for Rapid Triggering of Soft Polymeric ActuatorsI accrued knowledge and developed expertise in materials science during my doctoral projects at Carnegie Mellon University. My thesis project involved the innovation and development of synthetic vascularized shape memory thermoplastic and elastomeric devices capable of accelerated physical response actuation. I utilized 3D printing and soft-lithography to fabricate novel vascularized shape memory polymeric devices. I also evaluated the thermal, thermomechanical, chemical, and accelerated shape memory properties of the polymeric materials. This project helped me gain experience and knowledge in polymer formulation, engineering thermoplastics, structure-property relationships, polymer characterization techniques, and additive manufacturing processes. I gained multidisciplinary engineering knowledge and demonstrate adaptably by completing multiple diverse and multidisciplinary research projects. I am in-charge of the Soft-Materials Characterization Suite at Carnegie Mellon University. In this capacity, I am responsible for the maintenance and management of polymer characterization instruments. I am also responsible for training collaborators on the instruments. Troubleshooting problems and interpreting scientific results in this position have helped me develop excellent management, interpersonal, and technical problem-solving skills.
Master'S Student
Research topic: Synthesis and characterization of synthetic biodegradable elastomersMy master’s degree project at Carnegie Mellon University involved the synthesis, mechanical analysis, and in-vitro degradation characterization of ester and ester-amide based biodegradable elastomers for tissue engineering applications. I also completed and mentored several biomedical graduate courses including Polymeric Biomaterials, Introduction to Molecular Biomaterials, and Engineering Biomaterials. Mentoring and completing biomaterial courses and projects has helped me gain experience in biomaterials, biomedical devices, and FDA standards.
Summer Intern
Research topic: Measurement of junction depth in p-n junctions by the Groove and Stain method
Summer Intern
Research topic: Physical and electrochemical characteristics of laser treated TI6Al4V
