At Amazon Web Services, I have been building a tool to efficiently compare different data sources independent of their storage format. I developed a CLI in Java that allows users to quickly find all the differences between any CSV files, JSON files, and DynamoDB tables. This tool uses PartiQL and AWS Java SDK to query large datasets so that data independence is preserved, and the tool can be easily scaled to adopt new data formats.

I used Java Server Pages (JSP) and CSS to build the front-end of a UI form and transmits this information to internal Java-based APIs I built. Once these APIs are triggered, information from the form is processed and saved into DynamoDB tables.

I interned at Prudential Financial within the Global Business Technology Solutions department alongside Kenneth Cook, Vice President of Information Technology Architecture and Chief Information Officer of Long-Term Care Insurance. We conducted large-scale data analysis on insurance claims to detect instances of fraud using statistical tools such as SQL, Hadoop, and Denodo as well as data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI. When developing software to detect fraudulent instances, we built various models in Python and R to catch any suspicious activity among claim holders. Throughout the summer, I gained exposure to the Software Development Life Cycle and various project management tools such as Agile Software Development Methodology and JIRA.

As a member of the systems and sensors core team of UMIGV, I learned various Linux commands and an overview of ROS (Robotics Operating System). I helped install an LED touchscreen panel to the robot to allow users to wirelessly modify settings.

Interning at the County College of Morris’s Mathematics Department in Randolph, New Jersey taught me how to apply fundamental data science concepts to solve real problems. Working under Professor Kelly Fitzpatrick, I performed hypothesis testing to analyze academic performance for the mathematics department across 14 semesters ranging from Spring 2011 to Fall 2018. Professor Fitzpatrick and I imported data for over 1000 students across 70 different mathematics classes from Microsoft Excel into the statistical programming language R to construct a graphical representation of the statistical data. After that, we compiled all of our research findings into a technical report to present to the entire mathematics department at the following Board of Education Meeting.
