Profile bio

About Andrew Dobbins

I am a young, eccentric Computer Science and Engineering graduate from Santa Clara University. I carry a strong software engineering knowledge and a wide range of interests and hobbies. I have a deep familiarity with object oriented programming concepts, languages, and metrics; I have a great understanding of computer networking and operating systems concepts; and I can understand and analyze various software process models, team structures, and design concepts.I am also an avid sports fan (baseball is by far my favorite, but I'm a big hockey, basketball, and football fan, too); I follow Bay Area and Atlanta sports teams and stay up-to-date with league news in all four major American sports. I'm also a very talented musician; I play five instruments and occasionally will write my own progressive rock, electronic, or soft piano music. Additionally, I consider myself a pretty solid gamer. I stay active in the NorCal Super Smash Bros. competitive scene, and I play a fair amount of games casually (notably Hearthstone, the Fire Emblem series, and Super Mario Maker).Wherever I work, I want to at least put a partial focus on solving major world issues. I am a supporter of greater access to education. I believe that as a nation, we have a responsibility to educate our youth and provide them with the best conditions for success and innovation. I would also like to do what I can to help alleviate poverty and eliminate inequalities in opportunity, especially for younger Americans. I'm out here to make a positive difference, and I hope I can do so.
