In 2018 I was asked to consult on a significant steam pipework distribution issue for a UK Government research facility, This work demanded more time than I could reasonably spare from my contracting business (Chillflame Limited), so in 2021 I resigned my directorship of Chillflame in favour of my son Oliver. He is now the Managing Director of that business and it continues to flourish. Since 2021, I have started designing many diverse mechanical building services systems for that same Government client. The projects underway now include steam and condense infrastructure upgrades, laboratory refurbishments and peer reviews of other design proposals for the site. In 2021 I was contacted by another UK Government department and my practice is now growing. My client base now also includes national and local contractors, plus a University.I am available for advice on existing mechanical building services problems or to develop designs for new projects.

Chillflame does what the name describes, cooling and heating for buildings. We started in 2004 and offer an installation and maintenance service 24/7/365. Our emphasis is on high customer service values and maintaining good working relations with all of our clients, not just chasing sales. This means that new customers become clients even before we have won the first order. Our clients range from central government organisations to local authorities, with many industrial/commercial companies and SME's in between. We want to work with our clients to support their businesses, not the other way around. We find if we concentrate on that then all the other imperatives follow on automatically.We directly employ all of our staff and all are qualified in whatever discipline they specialise in (i.e. air conditioning, boilers, plumbing, legionella, etc.). We are members of Gas Safe, OFTEC and REFCOM, so you can be sure that we will work to the highest standards and all of our knowledge will be backed by the highest rated industry advice.Our working area is within the South of England but is limited to within four hours drive from Christchurch. We maintain this self imposed restriction as we offer a 24/7 call-out service, but with a four hour target response time.

I owned and operated a ductwork manufacturer and ventilation installation company for approximately 10 years, through a bust and boom economic cycle and the birth of the internet. During this time I observed the slow decline of UK manufacturing, competing against the rise in popularity of spiral ductwork and imported equipment. However Gullair is where I learnt my managerial credentials and where I discovered how to operate a successful business.Finally I closed Gullair in the face of insurmountable economic trends, to concentrate on another business (my current one). Gullair was dissolved in 2006.
