Overall project management of the Alkimos Beach Energy Storage Trial (ABEST) project. ABEST is a collaboration between Synergy and Lendlease/LandCorp to trial a 1.1MWh battery in a residential community to determine the impacts a large scale storage device has on peak load, infrastructure requirements and consumer energy costs. It is the first of it's kind and scale in Australia and has received funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to allow the sharing of the trial findings with other utilities, residential development companies and government agencies.On the ABEST project, I was responsible for the management of six (6) concurrent work streams each critical to the overall project outcomes:1) Selection, procurement and implementation of the 1.1MWH community energy storage device (battery) and associated control and management systems;2) Design and construction of the CESS site;3) ICT development and implementation of the new retail products, control management and data analytics systems;4) ARENA funding agreement reporting and management;5) Western Power connection into the SWIS; and6) Retail product development and marketing.The trial will run for 4 years and conclude n 2020.
