Responsible for the creation and operation of an Engine Overhaul Workshop based in Lincoln, this included full budgetary control. Initially managed a cross functional team including purchasing, production engineering, HSE and workshop activity. The facility was responsible for the fleet exchange engines which included engine dis-assembly, assessment, component repair and the rebuild of turbine assemblies. Key responsibilities;  * Local supply chain and warehouse / logistics activity. * Delivering engine and sub assembly repairs on time and to a defined specification. * Accountable for the rebuild engine specification. * Full responsibility for all regulatory, legislative and Company procedures. * Play a key role in the strategic development of the business in conjunction with the senior management team. * Execute the tactical plans aligned to the strategy.  * Management of employees with support from HR including arbitration and resolution of employee related issues, recruitment, development and communication.

Aberdeen

Responsible for the management of the Engine Overhaul facility including a cross functional team including workshop, supply chain, engineering, engine testing, HR, QHSE and warehousing.Full P&L and budget responsibility.The facility overhauled Siemens small gas turbines and associated equipment. This included disassemble, assessment, component repair, rebuild and testing of all units. Key responsibilities;  * Managed all supply chain activities including supplier selection, development and KPI monitoring. * Created a service excellence ethos to ensure that customer expectations were always exceeded. * Implemented lean principles across the operations targeting reductions in cycle times, inventory and quality costs while improving responsiveness, product/service quality and delivery performance.  * Delivered engine repair services on time and to the defined specification as per the demands of both internal & external customers for the Engine Repair Operation. * Accountable for the technical contract review for Overhaul, Repair and Package Repairs. * Accountable for the management of Non Conformance reporting and Customer Complaint process, ensuring that rework and warranties are managed with regards containment, correction and preventive actions implemented. * Ensured full compliance with regards to all regulatory, legislative and Company QHSE standards.

Lincoln

Responsible for the direction and management of 120+ employees. Full accountability of overhauling Siemens industrial gas turbines with additional responsibility for the manufacture of current and non-current turbine components. Key responsibilities;  * Direct responsibility for the management of the strip, assessment, repair, re-assembly of the full Siemens Lincoln Turbine range including turbine fuel burners. * Responsible for the manufacture of non-current spares which supported the Ruston TA, TB and TD product. * Managed the repair of numerous gas turbine components. * Liaised with internal and external suppliers regarding component repair schemes and maintaining required stocks (Kanban’s).  * Ensured that quality assurance and product integrity is met through-out the repair and build process to ensure customer satisfaction and ‘on-time delivery of service. * Achieve calculated project margins in order to secure forecasted profit. * Promoted and rolled-out Lean Tools and 6 sigma in order to bring about change and improvement, this included SMED, 5S, Kanban’s, TPM, OEE, Process Mapping, 5S etc. * Full responsibility for all Health, Safety and Environmental management including COSSH and Risk Assessments this included contingency plans for Risk Management.

With a team of 200 plus employees the role included the manufacture of large engine casings, compressor rotor and stator blades plus non current components. This also included the management of the plant maintenance department. Key Responsibilities; * Manufacture and delivery of key engine components. * Management of two machining departments. * Production Engineering. * Management of the Heat-treatment Department. * Responsible for the NDT and X ray Department. * Budget setting and adherence. * Presentation of BU performance. * Departmental health, safety and quality control and reporting.

Responsible for the purchase of key commodities including castings, burners, exhausts and machining processes. This included a team of buyers and supplier development engineers.Full budget setting responsibility and oversight of the departments performance with regards delivery and cost reduction exercises.Key Responsibilities; * Supplier selection. * Supplier negotiation. * Cost reduction exercises with other Siemens commodity purchase managers. * Out-sourcing of the Fabrication and small component machining departments. * Project manage a team to set up a dedicated machining supplier within close proximity of the Siemens facility.

Full responsibility for the manufacture of sheet-metal gas turbine combustion components plus the manufacture of heavy fabrications which included engine bedplates and casings. This involved a team of 80 employees which consisted of welders, platers, sheet-metal workers, machinists, engineers, production staff and managers.Key Responsibilities; * Raw material ordering * Component order launch * Resource planning and recruitment. * Production Engineering. * Health & Safety. * Quality. * Heat-treatment Department.

Responsible for a team of 40 employees including Welders, Sheet-metal workers, Inspectors, Machinists and Engineers. Produced the gas turbine combustion components.
