I have been involved in project and contract management in Queensland Rail for over 31 years. Before that I worked mostly for Ford Bacon & Davis doing railway project and contract work in the Goonyella System as consultant to QR.Major projects I have managed include:• Main Line Upgrade Project - $590m over 5 years• Blair Athol Expansion Project - $65m over 3 years• Gordonstone Railway Project - $160m over 3 years• Ebenezer Rail Spur Project - $12m• New Beenleigh Station Development - $11m • Hale Street/Boomerang Street Rail Bridges (complex road-under-rail construction)• New Generation Passenger Rollingstock - $2b (to Tender shortlist stage)Career highlights include:• Lead the review and made the recommendation to change from QR’s decades-old in-house Conditions of Contract to the industry-accepted AS.2124 and AS.2987. • Advocate for the adoption of tools to help project managers in managing key aspects of their work, including easy-to-use, efficient and reliable tools for helping with project cost and time management activities, and more recently project collaboration tools. • Significant and ongoing contribution to the framework and tools available to project managers to enable them to deliver projects in a consistent and repeatable manner, including the development and implementation of a quality system for the project office, resulting in full ISO 9001 certification. This included writing and publishing a comprehensive Project Management Manual for QR.
