I’ve always had a need to understand how things work. I can remember being about ten years old taking apart old household appliances and fixing them. After moving on from microwaves, I developed an interest in astrophotography which involves the use of cameras to take long exposures through telescopes in order to gain a much deeper and defined look than simply via the naked eye. It was this hobby that naturally guided me into engineering. Being a young teen in a hobby dominated by old, financially stable men drove me to come up with new solutions that allowed me to compete with a financial and inexperience disadvantage. Building an outdated computer allowed me to process and edit images, as well as model new parts that I would eventually manufacture. Classes I took at California State University of Fullerton and my eventual building of a 3D printer allowed me the biggest leap in performance as I was able to apply what I was learning in school to what I was teaching myself at home.So now, in industry, this passion remains with me. I have gained many new skills throughout school and life but I am the first to admit I have much to learn. I never want to stop absorbing knowledge, but I know that my professional career will allow me to achieve this.
