Managed the team responsible for the planning, design and implementation of a number of major wastewater treatment plant and large diameter sewer and water-main augmentation and rehabilitation projects with individual projects costing up to A$120 million. Gained experience in transforming a utility capital works program from an annual delivery cycle to longer term investment cycles with a comprehensive benefits realisation approach. Major Projects:- Bartleys Hill / Wellers Hill water main zone connection and river crossing - A$25 m - a 700 mm diameter water main crossing the Brisbane river, using the directional drilling technique - Bulimba Creek Tunnel sewer stage 2 upgrade project - A$54 m - 4.2 km sewer 1500 mm in diameter using the micro-tunneling technique - Woogaroo Creek Tunnel and Bundamba main sewer projects - A$75 m - micro tunneling and open trench sewers projects up to 1350 mm in diameter.- S1 main sewer rehabilitation project - A$74 m - relining a major sewer located along the busiest roads in Brisbane CBD, with diameters up to 1500 mm and up to 30m deep, built 100 years ago by constructing a tunnel and cast in-situ a mass concrete pipe. Finite element modelling was used to determine likely loads on the sewer.The project has won a number of awards. - Lowood & Fernvale sewerage treatment plant and transfer scheme - A$45 m - a 8800 EP WWTP in Lowood, an 8 km sewer rising main transfer system from Fernvale and two new sewerage pump stations. - Goodna WWTP stage 4A upgrade - A$120 m – an oxidation ditch MBR plant which has increased the capacity by over 90,000 EP and meets the 3N:1P ratio license condition. This project has won 3 prestigious awards.- Grey Street sewer pump station relocation - A$17 m – relocation of a sewer pump station on a high traffic road to accommodate a transport tunnel project.

Planning and Projects Group Manager responsible for providing effective leadership and management of the Planning and Projects Group which is responsible for:• Ensuring the capital works for the three water networks (water supply, wastewater and stormwater) and the wastewater treatment plant are planned to meet the long term needs of the city• Ensuring the delivery of capital programmes for the three water networks and the wastewater treatment plant meet Council objectives• Ensuring best asset management practices are used to deliver the agreed service levels. Responsible for leading and managing the infrastructure planning team, asset management team and four project delivery teams consisting of 44 engineers, environmental scientists, hydraulic modellors and information system specialists and an annual budget varying from NZ$ 60 to 100 million per annum. The North Shore City Council is an urban city with a population of 220,000.Key Achievements:• For the last five years the Planning & Projects group delivered over 95% by value against planned for replacement and new capital projects.• Developed a pro-active, continuous improvement team culture where the group is involved with a number of world leading technologies (i.e. sewer rehabilitation and relining, directional drilling and micro tunneling of pipelines, stream management, low impact stormwater urban designs, development of real time asset management data capture tools and systems, WWTP cell lysis process) resulting in sought after positions within the group and consultants wanting to work on our projects.• North Shore water and wastewater was recognized as being in the top 3 organizations for 4 of the 7 functional areas in the Water Services Association of Australia 2008 Asset Management benchmarking exercise carried out by 42 organizations worldwide, namely; asset acquisitions, asset maintenance, asset operation and renewal and replacement management.

Senior Engineer responsible for the marketing and implementation of all irrigation and rural development projects. Involved in the planning and design of urban water supply schemes, bulk water supply schemes and large pump stations. Responsible for investigating wastewater disposal systems in rural communities. Also specializing in the hydraulic and surge (Water Hammer) analysis of pipe work for large pump stations and pipelines for potable water, petroleum products and industrial effluent.• In March 1995 appointed as a Director of Bosch & Associates and Manager of the Rural Development and Irrigation Division. Responsible for securing work for this division and also for managing the information systems requirements of the company (i.e. computer hardware and software). The B&A Group employed approximately 250 to 300 people and Bosch & Associates employed 50 engineers.
