As Business Unit Director on the Absa digital marketing account the buck stopped with me. We grew the Absa agency team from 6 people to more than 20. My scope of responsibility covered all aspects of our delivery on a significant retainer. My ambit included oversight of client service, strategy, financial, creative, project management, development, social and media.A key responsibility included inter-agency relationships, collaboration and integration with client's traditional agencies, Jupiter Drawing Room and Mortimer Harvey, with a focus on 360 integrated campaigns and activations.

Established the Exhibitions Division for the South African office. I was responsible for identifying topic opportunities, establishing events and marketing and selling the event to exhibitors and sponsors. In addition to this sales role my responsibilities included project managing the event including all service providers, venues and suppliers, prior to and on-site during event.

This role encompassed evaluating new ideas in B2B exhibitions, establishing event titles, then building and marketing those events, through to actual on-site management of each event.

This role covered a wide variety of sports and sponsorship management. It included management of individual sportsmen, establishment of sports events and management of clients' sponsorship budgets including introducing Willards Chips to cricket development nationally. During the 1995 Rugby World Cup I also managed the sales, launch and promotion of the Official Souvenir Programme as well as advertising sales.
