For the past 30 years I have enjoyed a career utilizing my skills as a certified project manager in laboratory operations, contract capture and execution, industrial security management, and as a STEM volunteer. More than anything, I've learned that companies are successful when they hire and retain awesome people. I enjoy working with engaged leaders and team members who are committed to work together and trust one another. In May of 2024, I began working as the Director of Strategic Initiatives at Mantel Technologies. I am responsible for fostering business development activities from opportunity identification through capture and successful execution in addition to the management of government projects that require close collaboration with stakeholders from DoD and our partner universities. From 2016-2024 I was a Senior Manager for Signature Science, LLC located in Charlottesville, Virginia. In this role I managed various aspects of regional operations, facilities, security, and logistics in addition to serving in multiple proposal and project management roles. As a volunteer, I work closely with local leaders in the Central Virginia defense industry and the community. I've been focused on excellence in project, operations, and personnel management and science-related philanthropy, and provide consulting services to local businesses who want to grow in the defense industry and/or build strong teams focused on a common core of project management principles. I've had the privilege of serving on multiple boards to include the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce (Board Chairman, 2016), the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council (Board Chairman 2018-2020), and AFCEA Central VA (Chapter Founder and President, 2010-present). My STEM-related work includes promoting the development of scientists and engineers in Central VA by serving as the Virginia Piedmont Regional Science Fair Director and as President of the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair Board.Specialties: Program Management, Personnel Management, Facility Management, Business Development, Operations Management, Team Building, Mentorship

Most recently, I oversaw all laboratories and office spaces for Signature Science in Charlottesville. I led a team of logistics professionals who move equipment, consumables, and environmentally sensitive biological samples to global locations. I had also been responsible for executing the security program at the location which required daily interactions with my colleagues in all departments who maintain a security clearance, the security of both classified and unclassified spaces, and the protection of information sensitive to both government and company projects and programs.By ensuring all employees are educated and comfortable in their understanding of campus operations and security, and by providing the resources and training required to be successful in doing so, I assisted senior leadership in keeping the company's assets working, secure, and profitable.Prior to working in operations, facilities, logistics, and security, I participated heavily in business development activities and the management of projects. Prior to pivoting into an operational role due to the COVID pandemic, I performed as a capture manager and project manager on multiple projects that required the management of international staff deployments, laboratory management, chem/bio-related laboratory and field training, chemical signature analysis, and the enhancement of various laboratory procedures to gain efficiencies and improve quality.
