After returning from the Cabinet Office, I worked on the CMA's Digital Advertising Market Study; as well as three package travel cases and the airline investigation in Consumer Enforcement. In April 2021, I joined the Office for the Internal Market (OIM), taking on Project Coordination, as well as its first Overview Report. From October 2022 to July 2023 I led the Project Management Office (PMO), liaising regularly with the Chief Executive and senior officials to deliver a radical overhaul of the CMA’s approach to its use of Management Information. In August 2023 I joined the new Digital Markets Unit (DMU) to take forward strategic planning for its launch in autumn 2024.

I led work on DFID's investment in the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) and NAO's study of forecasting in government. I took a short break from my career in the public service to work in the film post-production sector.

Joining HMT, I was responsible for ensuring that the savings claimed from improved and centralised UK government procurement were soundly based on defensible methods. The post subsequently moved to ERG in the Cabinet Office. I developed updated benefits measurement guidance for procurement category teams and trained colleagues to apply it. Led a new team to co-ordinate benefits assurance across government.

Represented DfT at senior levels with a wide range of key external partners in two regions: the North East, and Yorkshire and the Humber. Role was to challenge and drive change to deliver shared priorities – building on my experience of policy implementation, senior stakeholder management and handling of political sensitivities.

On loan from the DfT to OFT. Led the promotion of policy evaluation and drove forward the use of robust evaluation evidence in policy-making. Provided technical research consultancy advice and support to senior colleagues; and managed a range of published policy evaluations. Trained as an OGC Gateway Reviewer.

Commissioned and managed policy research projects totalling £2.3 million, including a number of substantial policy evaluations, employing a range of analytical tools.

Directly conducted research for a wide range of projects including targeted policing and deaths in police custody. Following promotion to Senior Researcher, I was responsible for the Unit’s Police Performance Programme of eight related projects - including the development of new national police performance indicators and analytical techniques to create ‘families’ of similar local areas for the comparison of crime statistics.
