In 2011 I gave up my career of 20 years in the music industry as a promoter and publicist and created Pongathon, a social ping pong events company channelling my passion for event organizing, music, bar culture and of course ping pong! It was a big risk but one that was to launch a new and exciting career path for me!In my far distant misspent youth I had been a county and England ranked junior table tennis player. However, by the time I was 16 I had given up competitive play and joined the local tennis club. However, I always had a special place in my heart for table tennis. Fast forward to 2017, Pongathon is now a leading social ping pong events brand introducing the game to thousands of people every year via its Sport England funded workspace and university programmes, residencies in London and Oxford as well as delivering a huge range of tournaments and team building events for the corporate sector, music festivals and conventions.I could never have envisaged having so much fun spreading the gospel of ping pong to so many people! I started Ping Pong Fight Club to create fun, spectacular and inclusive environments for people to connect and socialise alongside their work colleagues. Wellbeing and healthy activity are my key drivers, not just at my events but within the workplace too.As we have moved from the physical to the virtual event space we created Ping Pong Fight Club's Online Challenge Show and The Bingo Challenge Show in the virtual event space, enabling everyone (no matter where they were located) to connect, compete and have fun.Now we have adapted all our shows for the live and hybrid experience, giving our clients the opportunity to experience the energy and excitement of 'live', whilst sharing and participating with their 'remote' colleagues (hybrid). Here is a brief summary of our shows: Ping Pong Fight Club's Lockdown Challenge Show - Hosted live the show features an action-packed 45 minutes of hugely entertaining ping pong challenges, trivia rounds and tongue-in-cheek game show banter where you connect and compete against your friends and work colleagues, all from the comfort of your home or office/location. It’s a quick and easy set set-up too with your home ping pong kits sent out in advance. 'The Bingo Challenge Show' - A new and exciting way to play a much loved game featuring specially selected tv, music, and film clips from around the world, replacing numbers with words and involving some fun off-the wall team activities set against the clock! I ran Leyline Publicity for 10 years, specialising in music publicity, event management, marketing and promotions. During this time we developed PR campaigns and club nights for XFM's specialist radio shows, independent and major record label signings, product and album launches. Collaborating with Eddy Temple Morris (The Remix) and Jagz Kooner (Primal Scream producer) we created (the now infamous) 'Kill All Hippies' indie-dance club night launching with Primal Scream and showcasing the likes of Kasabian, The Rakes and many more yet to be famous bands.Leyline Publicity roster included: Richard Fearless, Est'elle, The Holloways, The Duke Spirit, David Holmes, Chrome Hoof, Fever Fever, Dead Wolf Club, The New Union, fiN, and Freeland as well as broader PR campaigns for EA Games, Sony Playstation 2, Red Bull, Xfm, The Glade Festival and Standon Calling Festival.Leyline Publicity also created HUM and The Insomniacs Ball, as well as representing XFM’s The Remix Show, All City Show, Flo-Motion and The Remix All Nighter featuring live acts such as; Pendulum, Foals, The Duke Spirit, The Rakes, Digitalism and British Sea Power to name a few.
