I am A. Balaguru, a Teaching-cum-Research Fellow at the esteemed Department of Legal Studies, University of Madras. Student of International Law from the Heritage Department founded by C.H.Alexanderowicz. I am close to submission of my PhD thesis in law focusing on researching the rights of transgender individuals, from a human rights perspective. I aim to gain a deeper understanding of the legal framework and societal norms that govern the rights of these marginalized communities and to contribute to their advancement and protection. I hold an LLM in International Law and my interests are in International Humanitarian Law. My research experience includes working as a Research Assistant under the Tamil Nadu Fourth Police Commission, Government of Tamil Nadu, India. During 2020-2021, I conducted a scientific study on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Madras. I was involved in a special project as Researcher for the Honourable Governor of Tamil Nadu, where I worked as a Research Assistant for 'The Unsung Freedom Fighters from Tamil Nadu in India's Struggle for Independence'. I have published several articles in reputed journals on my works on International Environmental Law, Human Rights, Transgender Persons Protection of Rights, and Problems and Concerns on School-going Children. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of attending conferences and seminars both nationally and internationally. These events have provided me with exciting opportunities to share my expertise on a variety of topics that I feel strongly about, such as sustainability in the modern era, child protection, human rights protection, LGBTQIA+ rights, equality rights, and other related issues. During these presentations, I have had the chance to connect with like-minded professionals from around the world and discuss the latest research and trends in these areas. I have also had the chance to learn from other experts in their fields, which has helped me to expand my knowledge and deepen my understanding of these important issues. In my personal life, I enjoy pursuing hobbies such as reading, writing, and traveling.
