Outcome: Gained approval from Abbey's Finance Board for £525K per year budget for the commercial mortgages marketing campaign. Management of the budget and reporting to directors on spend and ROI.Marketing Campaign Planning & ImplementationOperating within the commercial mortgages market, dominated by the 'Big 4' banks, I was tasked with building the Abbey Commercial Mortgages' brand. This was achieved by: > Selecting cost effective publications in which to advertise that would reach the target market.> Briefing design agencies, to produce a suite of advertisements tailored to the readership.> Maximising advertising effectiveness by securing editorial opportunities within industry publications, promoting branch openings and providing commentary on industry issues.> Using direct mail to address a misconception from our brokers that Abbey did not lend to rural businesses. Outcome: £3.8M new mortgage business in the first year. > Implementing a Pay-Per-Click trial. Outcome: 60% increase of enquiries from abbey.com to the customer call centre. Marketing Collateral Re-brandingThe acquisition of Abbey by Santander required an urgent re-branding exercise. I managed the re-branding of a suite of 50 pieces of marketing literature, exhibition stand and national advertisements. This included incorporating new Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations which came into force on 1st June 2005. Outcome: The re-brand was completed in 11 weeks, ready for the Mortgage Business Expo in Birmingham. New application forms and AML guides were sent out to 600 brokers by the 26th May deadline.
Assistant Product Manager - Car Finance
Responsible for marketing Renault Financial Services’ (RFS) products and services nationally, to the Renault dealer network and Renault customers, and for the performance of these products and services against RFS targets. My activities included:Product Management RFS’s car loan product ‘Plate Rate’ was under-performing. I adjusted the product offering, tailored the pricing, improved time to market, re-launched Plate Rate to the Renault Dealer network with a new Promotion campaign. Outcome: Plate Rate’s volume in 2003 increased 33% on 2002 and achieved 147% of target. Plate Rate also delivered enhanced profit targets, which were achieved by protecting margins albeit in the face of strong competitor activity and fluctuating interest rates.New Product Development Researched, trialed and gained the RFS board’s sign off for a Dealer Incentive Award Card (IAC); 1200 cards went into circulation. Outcome: The IAC was adopted rapidly by the Renault dealer network. Renault UK conducted a trial of the card and a dual branded Renault / RFS card was then approved. Supplier ManagementThe supply of data for Renault’s customer retention programme was initially fraught with problems. Liaising with 2 external suppliers, I established clear communication channels and implemented a plan to address each of the issues. Outcome: The monthly data transfer was successful.
