About Amanda Marshall
I am currently a Senior Training Specialist for Mecklenburg County’s DSS. In this role I am responsible for developing and assessing leadership development offerings for DSS employees. Previously, I worked as a Residential Learning Coordinator and Academic Associate at Winthrop University. My areas of experience included Residence Life and Student Organizations/Leadership. In my Residence Life role I gained valuable skills in crisis management, adjudicating student conduct, developing and implementing a residential curriculum, assisting on university-level committees (including Continuous Improvement Plan assessment and SACSCOC review), overseeing multiple year-round residence halls. In my Student Organizations/Leadership role I experienced overseeing Student Allocations and their committee, which translated as allocating funding to student organizations and managing a large university budget. Additionally, I had the opportunity to teach two courses during my tenure in this position. My areas of interest within Higher Education are: residence life, student conduct, student leadership, or any position where my creativity and passion for student development may shine. Personally, I have been working toward an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education and am currently considered “ABD.”
