Attorney Advisor
Current• Analyze statutes, regulations, case law, factual and other materials, and apply legal principles and precedents to the resolution of a variety of legal issues • Provide legal counsel to client offices on a wide range of administrative issues necessary for the smooth and efficient functioning of the agency• Communicate and coordinate with officials at all levels within the agency, and also with individuals representing other Federal agencies (including the Department of Justice), Congress, States, private industry, the media, and public interest groups, representing the agency in all of these communications• Handle legal matters relating to the agency’s highway safety programs, including impaired, aggressive, and distracted driving, occupant protection, graduated driver licensing, motorcyclist safety, and traffic enforcement• Support the agency’s highway safety programs by helping develop criteria that States must meet to comply with the agency’s grant and sanction programs• Prepare guidance and rulemaking documents to implement highway safety programs and review State laws to verify compliance with the criteria
