Recently, probably because I am starting to be old enough to do so, I have been thinking a lot about my career and its development to date. And, heterogeneous as it may seen (remember that I have walked the tortuous path between Linguistics and Cyber), I believe I have identified the ingredients to the magic formula of my professional happiness.I love creativity. I enjoy abstract and strategic thinking as a way to navigate through complex realities. I get thrilled by the challenge of communicating differently, always with a dash of humour and craziness to spice it up. I have a passion for engaging people in projects that go well beyond their initial expectations.But, above all, I crave for the peace of mind of having a good working environment, where my work is respected and appreciated in such ways that I do not need to guess what I am doing wrong, what I should drop.Because, if I have learned something in all these years, is that, if you want to achieve more, it is important to know how to do less. And you can only do less if you are part of a great team.Since we set the Global Cyber Alliance’s new strategy in place —a process in which I was lucky enough to participate directly— and I was assigned my current role as the Director of Engagement of the Internet Integrity Program, I live in an almost perfectly pure state of professional happiness.Having those ingredients in place, of course, is a key part of that, but the most important thing is having the opportunity to let them do their magic, with the right direction and with the right people.PS: Talking about ingredients, I also like cooking (in case anyone is willing to tempt me with a career change).
