My greatest drive in life is to help prevent the extinction of humanity. Our world is at risk from many existential threats, such as nuclear war, biological weapons, and artificial intelligence, but with my background in engineering and philosophy, I can educate policy makers so that they make the best decisions for our future.In May of 2022, I completed a bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics and Philosophy, with a certificate in Computational Engineering, from Tulane University. This double major hasn't been easy, but it's given me the technical background necessary to understand the threats that humanity faces, as well as the writing and social skills needed to effectively communicate these risks to others.Furthermore, working for two years as an RA through a global pandemic and a category 5 hurricane has taught me how to be flexible and reliable when dealing with employers and coworkers. This is on top of working with a team of engineers developing an automatic sander for Green Light Nola, a local environmental nonprofit. I'm not just an egghead who knows a lot about nuclear physics and computer science; I know how to work with others and follow a project through to the end.For an example of my work communicating risks and solutions to general audiences, here's a paper I got published in the New Orleans Advocate. In it, I talk about the Renewable-Resilient Portfolio Standard, a renewable energy plan for the city proposed by the Energy Future New Orleans Coalition.
