Ms. Khan is an electrical engineer with over twenty-five years of experience with utility demand side management (DSM) programs. Her expertise includes in-depth knowledge on the application of electric and gas energy efficiency measures across multiple end uses and sectors. Over the course of her career, Afroz has showcased her abilities through fostering professional business relationships, gaining trust and confidence while executing business objectives and maintaining a high regard for confidentiality and professional ethics.

Re-elected in November 2020, Afroz has been serving as a City Councillor in Newburyport since January 1, 2018. She is one of 11 people who serve on the City Council. Currently, Afroz sits on the Budget and Finance Committee of the Council as well as the Education Committee. She has introduced legislation focusing on resolutions of support for notification on Combined Sewer Overflows in addition to recording of all city meetings.

Provides technical expertise on program design and implementation guidance for clients. Contributes to strategic planning and mentors engineering staff on how to approach long term considerations when configuring verification tools from energy efficiency projects. Afroz has also been a lead analyst for utility impact evaluation studies.
