About Andrea Germani
Life is an opportunity, there's no reason not to pursue your most ambitious dreams. With a degree in Law and a passion for European languages, I moved to Edinburgh (Scotland) in 2009 where I lived for 4 years. After a brief experience in the shop retail business with Poundstretcher’s, I shifted to Tourism working firstly as Yield Executive at JAC Travel, and then as Customer Care Executive for the Mediterranean and International markets at Abbey Tours Scotland, selling Scotland as a tourist destination and building up strong commercial relationships with key overseas clients as well as managing the operational aspects of coach tours. Being naturally good at people and having developed a fascination for Sales, I moved to Cuneo (Italy) where I currently live to work for Tecnilab Group, major firm in the business of pharmacy and hospital automation systems, as Export Sales Manager for the International markets.I firmly believe in continual personal and professional growth, that is why I worked my way up to a Sales position while developing the core skills that I needed for the job, and the learning never ends. I fully embrace new experiences and new challenges and am never scared to put myself to the test.
Listed skills include Management, Sales, International Sales, Negotiation, and 24 others.

Export Sales Manager
➜ WHAT I CURRENTLY DO: I find new partners, in the International markets, who are willing to work as agents or distributors, and I strengthen the relationships as well as the turnover with existing partners, developing commercial strategies whose aim is to gain an ever-increasing market share. The pharmacy automation business is extremely competitive and I think the prowess and charisma of the single salesperson are not enough, what is needed is a precise strategy with an overview of both the short-term and long-term ✔ The choice and the cooperation of the right local partner proves then crucial, ideally they should possess: a deep knowledge of the market in which they operate, a good positioning as expert in the industry, a good lead generation system and last but not least, skilled staff with the right competencies capable of taking on the technical support and customer service, in order to become the first point of reference for the customer➜ MARKETS CURRENTLY UNDER MY RESPONSIBILITY: Portugal, Denmark, Australia, Israel, Russia, France, UK, Kazakhstan ✔ I follow each new business opportunity in its several steps: first contact and qualification of the prospect; thorough analysis of current or future needs and issues, suggesting the most suitable automated system after a careful feasibility study, assisted by the technical office; presentation and demo at our head office or at the prospect’s premises; drafting of a business proposal; deal closing; coordination with the Department Managers for production, in-house testing, dispatch, installation and testing & commissioning of the machine ✔ I travel quite often during the year to: attend tradeshows both in Italy and abroad; go and meet an important customer; analyse a particularly complex project where multiple decision-makers are involved, and the stakes are high ✪ MY MAIN SKILLS: Sales ** Sales Management ** Business Strategy **International Sales** Business Development **Strategic Marketing
Customer Care Executive For The Meds, Nordic And International Markets
➜ In Abbey Tours Scotland I was responsible for Coach Tours Operations throughout Scotland (inbound groups), as well as being the on-the-spot “eyes and ears” of the agencies or tour operators overseas – the actual final clients to me – in the following 3 phases: before, during and after the tour. According to a prearranged rota I was also on call for a whole week – 24/7 – to provide emergency backup assistance, not only for the groups under my responsibility but for all of them travelling during that week, individual travellers inclusive. This is what Customer Care was about.✔ I started taking care of the Meds Markets (Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece), and then was given North-America, Scandinava and Eastern Europe.✔ Besides nurturing excellent business relations with the clients, I would plan and implement the itinerary of the tours, making contact and negotiating a good deal with the various suppliers: coach companies, tour guides, tourist attractions, sites, restaurants, etc. ✔ Once that a group was handed over by a Business Development Executive colleague of mine, the group was under my full responsibility. Despite the numerous – and inevitable – issues faced – a coach would break down, some guests would miss a plane, a tour guide wouldn’t turn up, just to name a few – my greatest joy was to know that I had done the impossible for things to work out well, and the warm thank you note from the client after the tour, praising my attention to detail ✪ ACQUIRED SKILLS: Negotiation ** Effective Communication ** Customer Care ** Problem-Solving ** Organization ** Teamwork
Yield Executive
➜ In my position as Yield Executive, my main duty was to monitor JAC Travel’s online sales – hotel rooms sales – on some specific travel search engines as well as keeping an eye on the competitors’ prices, in order to be able to draw up a detailed report to the Regional Contract Managers, who would then have more bargaining power when renegotiating contract rates. ✔ Under my responsibility were some of the most important European capital cities: Rome, Munich, Brussels, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Lisbon, Milan, just to name a few✔ To agree on a common commercial strategy with my line manager – who kindly endorsed me further below – and the Contract Managers was of Paramount importance. We would define the prices against the competitors’ moves, if it was high or low season, we also based them on sales history, city-specific trends, or special events such as bank holidays or recurrences. Besides, I had a wide enough freedom to undercut the competitors as a strategic move, provided that I would justify my decisions and provide a clear picture of at least short-term results.✪ SKILLS ACQUIRED: Strategic Decision Making ** Revenue Enhancement ** Revenue Analysis ** Microsoft Office
Sales Assistant
➜ This was my very first job in the Scottish capital. At Poundstretcher’s – popular houseware shop chain in the UK – I worked as a Sales Assistant and Checkout Operator.✔ It was obviously a temporary gig, but it helped me more than anything to have a full immersion experience with the English language – I was the only Italian speaker, and all of my coworkers were either British or other nationalities – and it made me discover that I am a “natural” at effectively communicating with people and sprang my desire to be on the front line in the contact with the customers, thanks to my personality. ✪ SKILLS ACQUIRED: People Skills ** Customer Oriented ** Teamwork, Sales.
Group Leader In Summer Camps For Italian Kids
➜ I wanted to try this experience before leaving for Scotland, combining my passion for travelling and for the English language with the curiosity of working with a team of people who were dynamic and from different walks of life.✔ I had a group of some 15 teenagers under my legal guardianship. Along with my Italian colleagues - who were responsible for an equal number of kids – we would organize some educational or funny activities during the day, when they were not in English classes, we would accompany them on day trips – such as London, Chester, Cologne, etc. – and we would make sure that they were OK at night, having the support of medical staff on-site. We would also organize activities or group games in the evening in cooperation with the local staff. ✪ COMMENT: it was a couple of tiring and intense but at the same time rewarding months, I made some good friends who I am still in contact with.
Fixed-Term Placement At The Students Office
➜ Paid placement during my university studies. My main duties were to give new students information regarding: immatriculation procedure, course of study, Students Services website registration, as well as support for all of the above procedures.
Fixed-Term Placement At Law-Politics-Economics Library
➜ Paid placement during my university studies. My main duties were: to watch the coming and going of students in and out of the library, providing assistance with book researches in the e-catalogue and occasionally helping out in the physical rearrangement of the catalogue.
