My role as a Trustee and Communications Director at leading National NGO, the Heart Care Foundation of India involves strategizing and executing three primary projects: 1. Sameer Malik Heart Care Foundation Fund (SMHCFF): Instituted in February 2014, the SMHCFF is based on the basic principle that no person deserves to die of heart disease just because they cannot afford treatment. Towards this endeavour, technical and financial assistance is provided to heart patients belonging to economically weaker sections of the society, in need of cardiac interventions. An expert committee comprising of notable individuals chosen on merit basis assess all the applications received by the NGO. Once shortlisted, the funds are then directly deposited in the bank account of the medical establishments treating the patient. Since its inception, over 400 needy and poor patients have been treated and cured under this project. 2. The Perfect Health Mela - Started in 1993, the Perfect Health Mela is a mass health awareness module, which attracts over 2-3 lakh visitors every year. Its main aim remains to create mass awareness about all aspects of health; using a consumer-driven model as the medium. It caters to people from all age groups and all walks of life showcasing activities across categories such as health education seminars and check-ups, entertainment programs, lifestyle exhibitions, lectures, workshops and competitions. The Mela is attended by over 200 organisations each year including those from the State and Central government, PSUs, leading corporates amongst others. 3. CPR 10: HCFI regularly conducts programs and training camps on the lifesaving and easy to learn, technique of hands-only CPR for revival after a sudden cardiac arrest. They currently hold three Limca book of world records for the maximum number of people trained in hands-only CPR in one go and have trained over 2 lakh people in the past three years.

As a PR consultant at Edelman India, I work with the team to counsel and support communications programs for a diverse range of clients in the healthcare and consumer industry. My work profile includes strategic communications planning, crisis communications, media strategy and relations, issues management and public engagement. Some of the clients I service include leading pharmaceutical companies such as Sanofi India, Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer, Abbott India; consumer health service providers such as LifeCell International and Medtronic and leading consumer brands such as Carlsberg India, Red Bull, Axe amongst others.

Here I was responsible for evaluating and recommending an integrated communications strategy for the NGO. I got the opportunity to help the team get recognition of June 26th as International Widows Day from the United Nations and travelled with them for the week-long conference that was attended by dignitaries such as Yoko Ono, Cherie Blair, and leaders of the ECOSOC and Security Council.

• Initiated and conceptualized a new concept of a youth wing under the NGO Heart Care Foundation of India where the youth between the age of 10-21 gather together and help bring about social change. • Led a group of 25 individuals as the chairperson of the youth wing• Visited the president of India Mrs Pratibha Patil with a delegation of 10 people as the chairperson of the youth wing and released health messages endorsed by her aimed towards the youth • Collected Rs. 30,000 along with her team through game stalls in the fair, the Perfect Health Mela 2007 to help donate prosthetics.• Organized a painting competition for 300 slum children in the fair, the Perfect Health Mela 2008- Conceptualized and executed PR and brand strategy for the NGO

My work profile at Enfuse Youth included updating and improving the copy for their organization brochure keeping in mind their varied target audiences and preparing a ready copy of the content for their website and educational videos. This opportunity allowed me to work under a dynamic and young management team within the boundaries of an international learning environment.

Work Profile included drafting press releases, uploading news items onto the company portal, media mapping, scheduling journalist interviews and attending regular departmental meetings.
