My research is on network time and frequency synchronization in hyper scale. While time and clocks are extremely related, they are two different things. Clocks, rely on oscillators and oscillators are an engineering realization of a physical phenomena called oscillation. In order to build a reliable clock, you need to have consistency in frequency by the oscillator. In addition, you need a "standard" to tune and calibrate you clock (also knows as syntonization and synchronization). All the above applies from old mechanical clocks (like the anniversary 400-day clock) to modern atomic clocks. The clock craft is indeed a fascinating world.The second part to this is, why do you need such accurate and precise clocks. There is a nice saying from my friend Georgi Chalakov: Accurate Clocks will Reduce [not eliminate] the need for things to go around. This being said, if you have two clocks, synchronized and syntonized within a defined "high accuracy", you can consider them "pseudo entangled" (with the consideration of reliability).
