Junior Program OfficerAs a Junior Program Officer at ISC, I was involved in the Business Development team. My responsibilities included managing the general inbox including responding to internal and external stakeholders, forwarding emails to the correct people, and for conducting business capacity searches. I participated in many team meetings and collaborating with my team for specific projects. I was also involved in many extra activities such as the LED Student Network where we organized events for other students working within the department. We organized events such as guest speakers, traditional Indigenous Ceremonies, and social events. During this period, I further developed my communication, problem solving, and organization skills. I obtained my Secret Level clearance. I was also awarded a Certificate of Outstanding Achievement for my efforts in the Dragons Den Innovation Challenge.

As a Sales Associate I was responsible for greeting and assisting customers with finding the products they are looking for as well as informing customers of the options available. I also preformed demos of products and was required to be knowledgeable on all the current technology. I worked in the entire store including, computers, televisions, appliances, and other accessories. I was able to develop my sales skills and participate in many sales workshops and trainings. Throughout this time, I developed my communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills, Furthermore, I was required to manage my time effectively in order to have quality interactions with customers.

During my time at Best Buy as a customer service representative I was working in a fast-paced environment where my priority was assisting customers with returns, exchanges, and other issues while maintaining a high level of customer service. I was able to truly develop my customer service skills and become comfortable with starting conversations and understanding how to problem solve in real time. As I was working the customer service counter I was faced with many situations where the customer had experienced an issue and needed a resolution. I quickly became the go to person for the toughest issues and was able to consistently find solutions that satisfy both parties. During down time, I was involved in many extra activities including assisting with hiring and running the “E-voice Program”. I was tasked with assessing resumes, conducting phone interviews, and scheduling interviews with the General Manager. For the E-voice program I organized fun team building events for the store and created a program where staff can purchase snacks and drinks during their shifts.
