Technical leader in the development and design of NewRelic's distributed query language NRQL. Driving the charge with my team to take the language from stagnation to a beacon of successful product launches. Led the design and development of several successful language features such as SubQuery JOINs, SubQueries, NRQL Variables, and LOOKUPs which required deep knowledge across the NewRelic Distributed Database (NRDB). Matured our team process to become more reliable and consistent at delivering complex language features which previously struggled to reach customers hands. Developed many optimizations across the stack which reduced the COGS of our system by sizable margins while delivering a more consistent and reliable user experience. Deeply passionate about the complex space of distributed systems, and enjoy the massive scale and challenges NRDB has to offer both in persistence and in query.

Developing one of the largest and most powerful distributed timeseries databases in the world, NRDB. Deep involvement in major language features across the stack, from updates to our language's lexer/grammar, to how queries are distributed in the cluster(s), to how the NRDB workers execute those queries against files in the cluster. On the data ingest / persistence side of things, performance and reliability of our persistence workers, and ingest balancing amongst massive Kafka topics for best cluster performance. With the occasional UI work in our React micro-frontend system, working on our language auto-completer / syntax highlighter.
