Four years ago, business journalism helped me make a difference in my community. A journalist for my county’s local newspaper took an interest in my musical education nonprofit, Crescendo Connect. By the end of the month, he published a story that placed my nonprofit in the community spotlight. Thanks to the newfound publicity, I received over $10,000 worth of instrument donations, which were given to underserved youth in our free music programs. This experience showed me the power of business journalism to highlight, energize and empower social impact initiatives.Professionally, I have experience in broadcast business journalism. I hope to use it to tell stories that create positive change in communities, just as business storytelling helped me aid my community four years ago. From honing my business reporting craft as an anchor for USC Annenberg TV news and reporter for Annenberg Media to gaining industry expertise as a business consulting intern for Gallagher, Sellside Group and Nuleep LA, I have learned that defining your purpose and following it is key to creating meaningful change.Currently, I am looking for broadcast business journalism internship and professional opportunities. Later, I am in front of the camera conveying the news to audiences.Anchoring for USC’s premier broadcast news station was an experience like no other and I am glad to have been able to share the most pressing business, politics, and local news to our university and local community.
