When I joined MOVE in the spring of my freshman year, I found myself in a bind: I loved business but struggled to incorporate my key values of social impact and sustainability into a future career. Becoming a member of MOVE enabled me to explore career paths in sustainable business, ultimately shaping my goal of becoming an ESG and sustainability journalist.Now, as President of MOVE, I strive to provide students with the same transformative experience I gained as a member. Overseeing a 14-person executive board, I work to ensure seamless professional, community service and social programming for MOVE’s 60 members. From hosting meetings with key stakeholders in Los Angeles’ sustainable business community to leading and reviewing over 200 applications per semester, I am committed to enhancing the member experience for our students.

During my summer with Gallagher, I worked closely with my client team to design cost-effective health benefits plans for six Fortune 500 companies. I dove deep into analyzing the financial data of corporate health insurance plans, using Microsoft Excel to identify discrepancies in price and benefits between the client's current plan and other options available in the market.While the data analysis was enjoyable, the highlight of my internship experience was taking my findings and crafting them into compelling business stories to present to clients. It felt incredibly rewarding to help companies improve their employees' health and well-being. Using our recommendations, our clients were able to reduce health insurance costs while enhancing coverage for their employees.

As the founder and president of Crescendo Connect, a 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on providing free instruments and music lessons to underserved youth, I oversee the work of my employees, instructors, and students to ensure we are making the most positive impact possible each and every day. In this role, I am constantly communicating and coordinating with team members to ensure our two programs, instrument collection and our free online music lesson program, are running smoothly. I also meet every other week with my employees and music instructors to allow them to voice any questions, problems, or concerns they may have that I can help them with.Running Crescendo Connect not only fulfills my longheld desire as a musician to provide the life-changing experience of musical education to those who couldn’t usually afford, the experience has also taught me important skills. I have learned leadership, communication, collaboration, nonprofit management, and entrepreneurial problem-solving skills that have and continue to aid me in my professional pursuits.

As a Mergers and Acquisitions consulting intern, I consulted with buy-side and sell-side clients to facilitate successful M&A deal outcomes. Specifically when engaging with buy-side clients, who made up the majority of my client portfolio, I worked closely with them to determine the best M&A opportunities to achieve their expansion goals. I started by conducting research to determine acquisition targets, calculating acquisition valuations, and forming M&A negotiation strategies. I then presented my synthesized findings and recommended next steps to the client. After receiving approval to begin negotiations, I worked closely with my buy-side team to consult the client and conduct due diligence during each step of the M&A process.On average, I worked on 4-6 client projects at a time, with clients hailing from a variety of sectors such as tech, entertainment, industrial products, healthcare, and transportation.

As a news anchor for USC’s Annenberg TV News (ATVN), each week I come in and pitch a business or politics news story idea for the day’s show. I then get right to work contacting potential interviewees, including politicians, academics and eyewitnesses to key events. While waiting for responses, I am forming interview questions and writing scripts in AP style. After conducting interviews, I proceed to edit visual content I collected and proofread scripts. Later, I am in front of the camera conveying the news to audiences.Anchoring for USC’s premier broadcast news station was an experience like no other and I am glad to have been able to share the most pressing business, politics, and local news to our university and local community.

In this role, I work with 3-4 international Ph.D. students each semester to prepare them for the exams required to become teaching assistants for USC classes. Each week, I meet one-on-one with each of my Ph.D. students to improve their teaching and language skills, as well as better their cultural understanding. Some activities that my Ph.D. students and I typically work on in pursuit of these goals include holding conversations in English focused on learning more about American culture, holding mock office hours and providing feedback, working on English language homework together, and watching American popular media to then discuss key cultural themes.Mentoring international Ph.D. students has vastly expanded my cultural understanding. My work has also improved my collaboration, communication, management, and time management skills.

In this role, I worked each week on producing politics, business, and local news digital stories for Annenberg Media, USC's premier digital news site. Similar to my work with Annenberg TV News, each week I came in and pitched a story idea centered around one of my two favorite beats: business and politics. I would then go out, interview sources, and shoot visual content. Later, I edited visual content and wrote/edited AP-style stories to be published on Annenberg Media's website.My experience writing for Annenberg Media exposed me to the world of digital journalism. I learned how to write catching, concise, and factual news stories while working in a fast-paced newsroom environment, which is an invaluable experience for any journalism student.

As a marketing consulting intern advising Panda Express' international parent corporation, Panda Restaurant Group, my intern team and I were tasked with developing content and distribution marketing strategies to improve the company's recruiting efforts. To this end, my team conducted research to identify and then segment our target audience. We then created recruiting strategies to best attract our four distinct audience segments.My experience consulting Panda taught me vital consulting skills such as client relations, strategy presentation, team communication, project management, and impact leadership. This experience also sparked my interest in consulting and furthered my interest in incorporating business into whatever career I ended up pursuing.
