Enterprise Channel Management (ECM)• Deployed a new model to serve personalized promotional messages about PayPal products on web and mobile touchpoints, which achieved 96% offline ROC–AUC. Contributed bug fixes to the dataset creation pipeline. Reimplemented the inference pipeline on PayPal's internal cloud notebooks platform with GCP Dataproc, BigQuery, and LightGBM.• Analyzed changes in transaction margin per user over time to inform the development of new ML models designed to nudge users to adopt more profitable engagement patterns.• Used association rule learning in Spark to discover common patterns in customer journeys and inform future development of ML features.Giving ML• Added user’s geolocation as an input to heuristic-based fundraiser recommendation model to prioritize local fundraisers, which increased diversity of U.S. fundraiser recommendations by 18%.• Incorporated data from GuideStar into charity recommendation model to increase quality of recommended charities.• Trained a new LightGBM decision tree model to predict the clickthrough probability for a given user and fundraiser, using content- and behavior-based features. • Developed a method to train a convolutional neural network to predict the upkeep levels of buildings in street view images, using images from multiple cities with different upkeep scales.• Used the resulting model to predict upkeep levels for over 128,000 images of buildings taken across 11 years and multiple city blocks in Boston.• Developed surveys to collect new labels regarding features of buildings using Amazon Mechanical Turk.
