As former editor and editorial director of most of the UK professional design and architecture magazines, I write, edit, produce, host and present seminar and conference programmes in the design, architecture and related industries, and write books and speak about mindfulness and craftsmanship.

I imagine, commission, brief, present and host extraordinary programmes of presentations from the world's best known and best loved designers, including Kelly Hoppen, Tom Dixon, Ross Lovegrove, Richard Hutten, Karim Rashid, Marcel Wanders, Jaime Hayon, Arik Levy, Lee Broom and Fredrikson Stallard. Globally recognised design influencers such as Aric Chen, former creative director of Beijing Design Week and now architecture and design director at Design Miami, propagator of China's 'new ruralism' Ou Ning, distinguished craftsman designer Song Tao and a host of A-list Chinese and Asian designers such as Chi Wing Lo, Steve Leung, Joyce Wang and André Fu complete the picture. Each edition has its own theme such as 'The Language of Design' or 'Design Completes the Circle' - an interrogation of circular design and the circular economy.

I have been delighted to be programming the Main Stage Forum and the Sustainability Hub until May 2024, with an overall co-ordination brief for the whole range of content.

I conceived, developed, wrote and delivered the programme for the INYT's launch of the 'Art for Tomorrow' conference in Doha, Qatar, under the patronage of Sheikha Mayassa Al-Thani, chairperson of Qatar Museums and one of the world's biggest art buyers. Speakers included former French Minister of Culture Jack Lang, globally recognised artists Jeff Koons and Olafur Eliasson, equally global architects Jean Nouvel, Rem Koolhaas and Zaha Hadid, former New York City Head of Culture Kate D. Levin, Head of Culture for the Mayor of London Justine Simons and a host of other glitterati.

I am working with the London Design Festival team, curating and delivering the programme for the festival's second Global Design Forum on 16 and 17 September 2013. Festival chairman John Sorrell's ongoing plan is to set the global agenda for design. A series of Design Forums in major cities round the world has already kicked off, with editions in Hong Kong, Seoul and Taipei.

London 2012 Olympics

I worked with MET Studio Design on the EDF Pavilion at the 2012 London Olympics, developing, writing and delivering the content of the exhibition.

Collate and generate ideas, help showrooms devise presentations, work with 'fringe' exhibitions, artists and installations, create Clerkenwell Design Week house presentations working with eg Kevin McCloud, George Clarke.

Conceive and develop the editorial direction of the company's products - magazines, exhibitions, websites, events; work with my fellow directors and editorial teams to create a portfolio of communications products that is constantly ahead of the wave. Magazines included FX, idFX, RED, Blueprint, Light and later (2003) Icon. Exhibitions and events: Grand Designs Live, FX Awards, etc etc

I ran my own workshop and also worked for high quality cabinetmakers Whitehead & Lightfoot for 10 years after taking my Cambridge degree. My practical experience in furniture design and making has formed the foundation of my understanding of design and craftsmanship, and given me a unique ability to interpret and communicate them. The pic shows the curved and glazed oak frontage of the Rubens Hotel, London SW1, which I built and installed with my team in 1984, and which still stands.
