- While working for Traylor Brothers on the Howard Franklin Bridge Replacement, I was responsible for overseeing daily foundation construction operations on site. Most of my time consisted of corresponding with geotechnical consultants on concrete piles driven. I also reviewed all PDA data received from the field to create a detailed pile tracking sheet designed to keep our foundations team informed on our rapidly progressing operation. Additionally, I volunteered to take the lead on the site turbidity monitoring program by conducting daily tests on the water in the Tampa Bay and compiling compliance reports to ensure all scopes of work met environmental regulations.

- As a returning intern, I channeled my efforts to build off of my previous summer by shadowing inspectors on job sites with a wider variety of façade systems like pre-cast concrete, masonry, and curtain wall. In addition to learning more about the construction process on a broader spectrum, I was also able to continue my project from the previous year by diving deeper into codes and regulations set within the industry. I created new ASTM and AAMA summaries that pertained to architectural windows and doors as well as other components of construction like stainless steel and insulating glass units.

- In this position, I assisted with exterior wall special field inspections while monitoring construction sites and writing technical reports by learning to understand shop drawing, modeling, design development, and other construction documents. I was able to explore the engineering consulting industry further by applying the knowledge I had gained in the office to my hands-on experience when accompanying inspectors on various curtain wall job sites in and around New York City. Also, to make a lasting impact on the company, I worked with my colleagues to condense ASTM and AAMA industry standards to develop a library of simplified versions of test methods and specifications to be used when inspecting relevant components construction.
