My duties include; dealing with telephone enquiries, recording all issues raised by members of the public and Funeral Directors and directing to the relevant department, arranging all burial and cremation services at Glasnevin Cemetery, organizing the sale of graves for families, assisting individuals in locating family graves, overseeing the management of the cemetery permit system for monument sculptors and building relationships with these companies/ individuals, invoicing all sales through the office using the Opera Accounts System and accurately recording all burials and cremations in handwritten record books which will be preserved in our archive for future generations to use in genealogical research.

The key aim is to provide a professional, friendly and courteous service to all patrons.Acting as the key liaison between Museum Staff, Tour & Exhibition Visitors, Event Bookers and Members of the Public, the Front of House Assistant is responsible for welcoming patrons as they arrive and assisting them as needed. They will monitor the comfort and safety of patrons and staff.Responsible for Ticket Sales to Museum & Tours.Ensure that all FOH and Health and Safety procedures are adhered to.Assist in the development and implementation of the Museum policies.Ability to deal discretely and sensitively with members of the public.Torex Trained to a high standard.Responsible for the development of Museum Education Programme.Responsible for the development and implementation of new initiatives for growing visitor numbers.Fully Trained on BMS systems.

Museum Assistant

While working in the Museum I worked both as part of a small dedicated team and team leader overseeing the day to day running of the Museum. My duties included; answering telephone enquiries, taking bookings and organising guides for private tours, updating the museum schedule, ensuring that all aspects of the museum exhibitions were running correctly and logging all issues, assisting members of the public and directing them to the relevant departments within the cemetery, completing weekly lodgements and end of day cash procedures and general clerical tasks. I also undertook a number of marketing promotions for the museum throughout the country. I organised and ran the very successful book re-launch of “The Narrative of Frederick Douglass-An American Slave” by Don Mullan in conjunction with Concern International at the Museum, an event that sought to raise funds for Concern’s mission in Haiti. I also spent a considerable amount of time creating relationships with both national and international tour operators and destination management companies with a view to boosting the museum’s profile and increasing its revenue streams for the future.
