As a Products and Systems Engineer, I have been involved in the delivery of a number of safety focused projects for clients across different industries. While working on safety projects for the Rail Industry, I have demonstrated skills such as data analysis, systemic textual analysis, hazard identification and communication.Whilst in this role I have also aided the development of safety training courses, through production of course outline storyboard and course materials. I am actively engaged within the 'Women in Engineering at Capgemini' network and the 'Safety Community of Practice'.

Delivered project documentation to clients, as project leader, for two projects simultaneously. As Project Lead, facilitated engagement with internal and external customers and communicated with client regularly to answer technical questions, ensure adherence to client’s technical specifications and share project progress via completion of Gantt Charts.Determined SIL requirements using Bowtie diagram, LOPA and qualitative methods. Produced technical report communicating SIL analysis, which comprised of hazard and risk identification, management and assessment activities. Compared viability of four process configuration options, by preparing mass balances and performing economic analysis.

Collaboratively developed new continuous process method of production and successfully verified process through lab scale testing. Produced mass balance and P&ID of new full scale continuous process. Conducted risk assessments and wrote standard operating procedures.

During my industrial placement at Scotmas I gained experience working in R&D as part of a multidisciplinary team. My responsibilities during the placement included: equipment sizing and procurement, leading HAZOP and LOPA analysis, writing system manuals, documentation of maintenance procedures, and producing other relevant CE Technical File documentation.

I undertook a 12 week laboratory based research project focused on hydrogen production from the urea contained in mammal’s urine. I worked closely with my supervisor to submit a successful funding proposal to the Carnegie Trust. During the 12 week project I developed a suitable catalyst and hollow fibre catalyst support for the reaction. I developed skills to plan and carry out a research project, as well as technical laboratory skills to prepare and characterise the catalyst and run reactions. I attended a poster presentation and presented my findings to other Carnegie Trust Scholars. In addition, I contributed to a research paper on this subject and was named as second author when published in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy.

During the summer's of 2017 and 2018 I was employed as a tour guide at Glenfiddich Distillery. The role involved delivering tours to groups of varying sizes, covering each stage involved in the production of malt whisky, with a focus on the heritage and family values of the company. Visitors came from all over the world with varying levels of English fluency and previous knowledge regarding production of malt whisky. Therefore, tours were tailored to each individual tour group. I was able to develop my public speaking skills, and I am now extremely confident speaking to large groups of people. I also enjoyed carrying out reception duty. As a keen chemical engineering student, this role allowed me to gain technical knowledge regarding the production of malt whisky.

I was employed as a semi-professional guitarist in the 2016 Cairngorms Ceilidh Trail band - an opportunity run by Feis Spe aimed to develop performance skills in young musicians. We worked as a team to put together a repertoire of music which we then played at concerts and ceilidhs on a tour of the Cairngorms area of Scotland. The role involved setting up for every concert, performing and speaking on stage, working closely with the other musicians and interacting with tourists.

The work involved inputting data into the Home Care system and liaising with colleagues.
