• Throughout my PhD, I was able to plan and manage my project based on producing and testing Manganese Oxide - Graphene Oxide 2D materials for use as a catalyst support in direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs).
• I used a range of materials characterisation techniques including: XRD, XPS, TGA, TEM, EDX, ICP-MS, ICP-OES.
• I employed electrochemical testing (cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry) and developed new electrochemical protocols for long term degradation testing.
• I developed a new method for growing 2-dimensional manganese oxide-graphene oxide catalyst supports, and growing the platinum catalayst on these supports.
• I presented my work to a wide range of audiences, from members of the scientific community at international conferences, to members of the public visiting a local science museum.
• I supervised masters students through their year long research project.
