My interests lie at the intersection between hardware design (3D printing, material science, electronics, sensors, IoT, biomimicry) and intelligent programming (robotics, AI, ML), and how we can creatively innovate simultaneously in both these spaces to produce intelligent products which are well aligned to human needs. Hands-on problem solving of real-world problems is something I love, especially those which involve robotics, automation and/or additive manufacturing. I enjoy learning new industries and domains, sharing my knowledge and passion with other skilled people, and striving to reach my full potential to increase value for organisations and the community.I am currently completing my PhD in Robotics engineering with Monash University, where I am working on adapting the design and actions of robots to improve Human Robot Interaction, and thus adoption of robots. Previously I worked in several tech areas including, software development, cyber security, data analysis, and programming. I also have a background in business including, product development, process improvement, marketing, finance, training/education, and team management. I setup my own 3D printing and robotics workshop to work on side projects alongside my PhD.Please reach out and connect or message me if you’d like to discuss current/future projects or other opportunities. I am particularly interested in projects related to robotics (especially drones and quadrupeds), additive manufacturing, fantasy/gaming, cooking, gardening and animals.

My PhD research is in the field of robotics and looks at changing the design and actions of robots to improve Human Robot Interaction. My specific focus is on altering sounds produced by robots such that they are more comfortable to be around in shared environments (homes, offices, public spaces). As machines, robots produce many undesirable noises as they move and operate. My research uncovers hardware and software solutions to stop robots sounding like a microwave-oven or washing machine walking around your house.Highlights:- Worked with many different robots including robot arms, quadrupeds, mobile manipulators, humanoid, social robots, and drones- Programmed in Python, C++ and ROS (physical robots and Gazebo simulations)- Utilised 3D printing and design to make parts/mounts for robots- Managed final year undergraduate students to complete their research projects- Contributed to several collaborative projects including “Robots in Public Spaces” and “Human-Robot Coworker Teams”- Developed a shared codebase to facilitate other students easily working with the Fetch mobile manipulator robot- Authored book chapter, journal and conference papers- Presented talks at events and conferences
