About Aimee Harlib
Aimee Harlib holds a Masters degree in History and Theory of Contemporary Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute and a Bachelors of Arts in Art History and Criticism with a Minor in sculpture/performance from the University of California, San Diego. Harlib’s research interests and written work, informed through experience as a working musician and performance artist, has a current focus on punk performance strategies as a form of political resistance to normative constructions of identity. Originally from the Bronx, New York and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, she currently resides in the Pacific North West Coast.Having graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute’s Masters program for History and Theory of Contemporary Art, her long-term career goals are oriented toward research and education. Within her program,she also completed a collaborative thesis project with twelve other graduate students—developing the proposal and coordination of several events and exhibitions related to their yearlong thesis project with Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland, CA.
