As the Sr. Financial Analyst at UCO, I was instrumental in income reporting. Developed, interpreted, and implemented financial concepts for financial planning, resource planning, and control of organizational budget. Analyzed and prepared recommendations for financial plans, including annual resource allocations, future requirements, and operating forecasts. Provided high level financial analytical support to UCO in the areas of grants and contracts management for instrumentation and fabrication projects. Developed and presented complex labor recharge rates proposal, developed and supported the costing of instrumentation projects. Applied activity based costing and activity based instrumentation project budgets. Responsible for performing contracts and grants administration, financial accounting and process analysis, audit support, compliance and policies interpretation. Contributed to UCO's annual budget process and the annual fiscal close and reporting process.

As the Financial Systems Analyst, I was charged with utilizing a multidimensional business intelligence software to accurately provide profitability, budgeting and forecasting information to senior management and other executives. I leveraged Cognos reports and cubes, as well as extensive research skills to resolve complex issues, documented processes, as well as tested and developed process enhancements to meet organizational goals.I was promoted into a role as a key player in the enhancement of forecasting capabilities and have streamlined and standardized reporting through the design and implementation of a centralized SharePoint site. I successfully developed infrastructure for submission, tracking and approvals to drive efficiency and un-complicate an otherwise complicated process. I also authored a new procedural manual to clarify and outline responsibilities for reporting, PeopleSoft, human resources, financials and AUM.

While with the San Francisco campus of UC, I led the analysis of complex financials, reporting and award management operations for clinical research for the division of Hematology and Medical oncology department. I managed up to 50 projects per month and made contributions and recommendations on contracting practices, analyzing expenses and preparing financial reports and forecasts that were presented directly to the Chief, MSO and principal investigators.I led the analysis and research of operations of a low performing lab and identified where the lab was out-sourcing much of their research. Because of this, the research costs were not being appropriately charged to the clinical trials, therefore costing quite a bit of money to be wasted. I made a recommendation (that was approved) to improve this process by implementing tracking and charging that would bill the appropriate clinical trial and recoup the costs of the outside research, while maintaining the integrity of the research and trials being performed.I further managed up to 160 active clinical trials and residual contracts that held up to $4M in annual expenditures with high-level accuracy.

As the financial management analyst at Stanford, I was tasked with validating award administration for contracts and grants while concurrently interpreting contractual agreements to ensure compliance with federal and University policies. I successfully managed contracts and agreements for 15 faculty members of the Environmental Earth System Science department, prepared monthly reconciliations, financial advisement and forecasting. During this time, I became very passionate about our carbon footprint on the earth and because of my passion and drive, one of my key accomplishments in this role was when I identified and led the transition to a paperless reporting and filing system that saved the department up to $6K per year in printing costs, slashed the carbon footprint by 5 lbs. per year and reduced solid waste in the environment by 1K lbs. per year.

In this role I facilitated and organized meetings with faculty for contract, grant and budgetary items. I was able to utilize my previously acquired contract and grant management expertise in this role and assembled monthly financial statements for 82 faculty. I was also charged with handling up to 300 awards in the Division of the Arts, where I reconciled and audited research awards for accuracy and compliance with federal and University guidelines.I was promoted to Research Analyst for my excellent performance and received a Staff Award for my outstanding contributions to the department.

I began as a Financial Affairs Assistant II where I posted expenses to general ledger, handled contract and grant projects and achieved Certification in Contract & Grant Management that aided in fully understanding Federal governance in University Finance. I was promoted in 2004 to Financial Affairs Assistant III within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department where I prepared monthly financial statements for the faculty and monitored, reconciled and audited department research awards. From here I moved to the University of California, Santa Cruz.
