Edith Cowan University is committed to excellence in student experience. Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) is a peer-led program introduced to ECU in semester 2 of 2018. The pilot program saw high performing students enter units with high failure and low retention rates to facilitate interactive study group sessions additional to mandatory unit activities. The program is designed to support educators, enhance student learning and foster social connectedness among first year university students. The program objectives are to increase retention and decrease rates of unit failure.As a senior PASS facilitator, my role is to design and facilitate study sessions that reinforce unit content, develop self-guided study skills, foster social support and empower students to take control of their learning. Sessions are interactive and emphasise collaborative learning and group work. In an administrative capacity I am responsible for the mentorship and performance review of junior staff, maintenance of morale and team building, organising employee meetings, training sessions and events, stock control and communications.

Provide operational support to the Peer Assisted Study Services (PASS) program coordinator in all areas within the peer learning division of the university.Responsibilities• I liaise between the PASS coordinator, academic staff (lecturers and tutors), Human Resources, Payroll, the Centre for learning and teaching and all other PASS team members to ensure clear communication of objectives and optimal outcomes for the program while fostering a positive workplace culture.• I utilise effective organisational skills to coordinate staff training and development, screen applications and sit on interview panels during recruitment phases.
